Welcome to the official website for Helen Sharman OBE, the first UK astronaut.

Helen was the first Briton in space when, in May 1991, she launched on a Soyuz spacecraft to spend eight days orbiting the Earth, most of that time on the Mir Space Station. These days Helen works full-time at the Department of Chemistry, Imperial College, London and she speaks regularly about her space experiences.
She has also written two books - Seize the Moment (her autobiography) and The Space Place (a children's book making sense of science).
Please note that Helen does not have any personal Twitter or Facebook accounts; any such accounts purporting to be Helen’s are false.
